Aqara, a provider for smart home products, today announces its commitment to Matter, a new connectivity standard for IoT devices. The Company plans to provide global consumers a variety of Matter-compatible products. As the first step, Aqara will integrate Matter into its existing hubs – Aqara M1S and M2 – through a software update (OTA). The updated Aqara M2 and M1S hubs will enable certain new and existing Aqara child devices to be compatible with Matter.

The first Matter-compatible Aqara child devices will include the latest sensors, wall switches, and smart plugs. Integration of Matter will not disrupt current Aqara smart homes as users will continue to enjoy the same features and benefits of Aqara’s existing Zigbee devices.

Matter, previously known as Project CHIP (Connected Home over IP), is a new, open-source, and secure connectivity standard for IoT devices. Aqara shares Matter’s vision of having a unifying language for the IoT industry to improve consumers’ smart home experiences. The OTA update for the Aqara M2 and M1S hubs will be available shortly after the Matter rollout. The Aqara TVOC Air Quality Monitor has 3 built-in sensors measuring the level of TVOC, temperature and humidity, and all sensors are developed with the advanced electrochemical and semiconductor technology solutions to ensure the stability and accuracy. The monitor is also equipped with a dot-matrix E Ink screen, which is similar to paper and has a very high contrast. The power consumption of the monitor is so low that it has a battery life of over a year.

Aqara, a provider of smart home products, announced that the Aqara Hub M1S will be sold on its Amazon US store starting from June 8, 2021. The Hub M1S is the updated version of the original Aqara Hub, and it’s equipped with Aqara’s latest hardware and software.

The Hub M1S is the newer generation of smart home control center from Aqara. Like other Aqara hubs, it connects Zigbee devices to Wi-Fi network, and manages and controls smart scenes as well as smart devices, such as plugs and switches.
